Round 1 - The Results

Thanks once again to everyone for voting. We're working on getting a better voting system for Round 2 so be patient and it'll be up very soon, but in the meantime, let's take a look at the results of Round 1.

Them Crooked Vultures vs. The Dead Weather
Both of these groups are technically "supergroups," and while Jack White's murderous ways being caught on film was enough to sway some voters, it wasn't enough to overtake the power trio of Josh Homme, Dave Grohl and John Paul Jones. When a member of Led Zeppelin gets caught up in a new project, people typically take notice.
Winner: Them Crooked Vultures

Local Natives vs. Broken Bells
To be honest, when these two groups matched up, I thought Broken Bells would take it easily, but the votes kept coming in for Local Natives. The Shins are still in it though so James Mercer's voice still has a horse in this race.
Winner: Local Natives

Janelle Monae vs. James Vincent McMorrow
Although Janelle Monae seemed to be the neo-soul movement's greatest hope in this tournament, she was rather handily defeated by the soft, whispered tones of singer/songwriter James Vincent McMorrow. As they are two very different styles of artists, perhaps this victory for Mr. McMorrow provides some foreshadowing as to the voting trends for this tournament? Janelle Monae fans, tell your friends to vote in Round 2.
Winner: James Vincent McMorrow

Beady Eye vs. Foster the People
For a band that has only released an EP thus far, it's extremely impressive to see Foster the People moving on against I Can't Believe it's Not Oasis. Luke's comment about the tribute haircut easily takes the award for most hilarious justification of a vote for Round 1. Who's gonna take over the throne for Round 2?
Winner: Foster the People
